Completion of homebuyer education and counseling through NWBR opens up opportunities to access down payment assistance programs to help you buy your home. In order to be eligible for these grants, you must meet income and other guidelines. With the assistance of an NWBR HUD-Certified counselor we will determine which programs you can apply for based on funding availability, eligibility and subject property location.

City of Janesville Down Payment Assistance

Are you ready to purchase a new home, but are having trouble saving for the down payment and/or closing costs? If you are a first-time homebuyer and plan to buy within the Janesville city limits, the City of Janesville may be able to help. Loans of up to $10,000 are available for low to moderate income households to help with down payment and closing costs.

To be eligible, total annual household income must be at or below 80% of the Rock County median income, and the household must complete a HUD-certified homebuyer counseling program and/or Home Buyer Workshop. Loans are forgiven over five years of continued occupancy, so at the end of five years you owe nothing.
